As the name suggests, it is intended to identify the person carrying to confirm that the picture on the ID is the true likeness of the person carrying it. The card is not intended to be left at home. Else, it defeats the real meaning of an ID.

I cry for Ghana because our MPs can’t do anything that will benefit Ghana; just wasting taxpayers money. In the USA, one can fly domestically starting May 7, 2025, without an acceptable form of identification, which is enhanced ID, which confirms your identity and U.S. citizenship. So, if an MP does not know the value of ID in financial transactions or in our world today, where cyber crimes are on the ascendancy, then I am sorry. Why will you leave your ID in your home in the first place if you know it is a requirement for your identification at the bank? MP Adongo, your argument is baseless.

Not all ID cards across the world carry biodata. But if the card carries your biodata it’s supposed to act as a sort of fallback or multifactor. So if you get to the bank and your id isn’t on you but system has your biodata(e.g your retina or thumbprint) it can serve as a fallback so that you do not have to go back home. It’s common sense and advanced countries like Estonia etc implement it. Even the us is implementing Real IDs on the phone now so that if you leave your id but have it on your phone wallet you can use it to authenticate or verify your identity. Stop yapping with your empty heads
