In my book, the referee should have been banned for life. That was a lapse in judgement for asking a player's autograph after refereeing the game involving the player. No one is against him asking a player's autograph on his own time when he is not on the field as a referee. It shows that he might not call a fair and honest game involving his idol, Messi. This act alone should question his impartiality as a referee. What would fans say if he calls a penalty in favor of Messi if player just touches him?
