This rent problem with high price and many years advance can never be solved by any Gvt in power because the very people who owns those properties are these politicians and many of them are in that parliament. So how can you solve this issues when the people (landlords are the parliamentarians). They are just after money and their own betterment but for an ordinary citizens. If you don't have money to rent in urban areas, please pack of and go to the village and settle down there. All the property owners will by all means die and leave it for their children to come and continue the very problem Agbana is talking about. So my younger brother, keep quiet on this one. It will never be solved.

The rent issue is very worrying. However it is based on the economic principle of demand and supply. The demand for rental accommodation in the urban centers is very high. However, those willing to invest in the supply of housing is limited. We should as a matter of urgency encourage people to invest in the supply of housing for our brothers and sisters. The problem is how to provide housing (the supply side). I share the sentiments of the MP and pray that the good Lord touches the heart of investors to help increase the supply of housing

Any attempt to control rent of private properties is artificial and won't work. If I say I am charging X and you the tenant says "rent control say I can only charge Y, then I will say....okay, then I'm not renting again. Have a nice day.

Of course, Ghanaians are very extremely greedy, that's why regulation is needed to find common grounds in defining price ranges and affordability so no party loses. That same regulation requires periodic control measures and a way tenants could reach out to a state institutions in case of abuses and non-compliance to rules.

I have paid 15k ghc for burglar proof. I am paying 18k ghc for windows. Not forgetting, labour and transportation costs. The list goes on. How much should I rent my 2 bedroom house? Does Edem has any knowledge about maintenance? Rent control is a futile measure. Does anybody thinks that landlords and house owners will rent their properties for peanuts?

Very soon this boy Edem Agbana too will be riding in a V8 made possible by Ghana government. Why would he suggest that a national service personnel rents a house/apartment for ghc1,500? Who rents a 1500 apartment when his/her salary is just half of that?

A 2 bedroom apartment outside the city should cost 1500 not a 1 bedroom. A national service personnel who earns ghc 750 as he claims must live in a single room apartment otherwise he cannot afford the rent.

Politics is lucrative in Ghana that's why all these guys force to venture into it. They just come to talk, make money for themselves. They offer nothing.
