My personal advice to President Mahama is that a manageable staff number beyond a 100 would be too much at the Presidency. During Akufo Addo's tenure, most of the ill-dressed boys and girls at the Presidency, appeared not to have much to do and hence, were idling about, most of the time. And we all know what the devil does to idle hands. The place was disorganized, unkempt and cluttered like Makola market. The lingua franca was twi and unless one took the trouble to go all the way there in person, there was no officially proactive or reliable means of communication to get simple answers such as a yes or no to enquiries on ones business there. There were times when I had to go there in the afternoon and immediately one reached the security/receptionist front office, a tornado of the aroma of kenkey and fish or waakye would spiral out from the direction of the inner offices and hit you in the face. It appeared that there is no cafeteria in the building because the staff openly ate their meals on their office desks. Sad but true.

Mahama should contract the services of a professional office organizer/planning company to put some order and respect to the place.

If all the Ministers were efficient in their ministries, there should be very little reason for many people to troop to the Presidency. As much as is possible, the Presidency should be restricted to heads of state institutions, the Diplomatic Corps, other VVIPs, and specific invitees of the President and the VP.

The re-enactment of the Akufo Addo period scenario where idle uncultured young men and women were said to be discreetly involved in all kinds of untoward arrangements to seal appointments or lobby on behalf of visitors at the Presidency, must be avoided at all costs.
