Indiscipline has taken over our second cycle schools. School heads need to take drastic measures to restore sanity in out youth.

Why not simply confiscate the phones, and return them at the end of the term? Wanton destruction of such items smacks of envy. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Crushing phones as a deterrent? Backed by which findings? How about mirroring the GES's shift in position - Tech is integral to this age & students are no exception.

It's hard time GES changes its stance on the usage of mobile phones in 2nd cycle schools. They can allow the usage of phone for an hour or two too enable students call their parents or search for information online. A total ban on the usage of mobile phones is old fashioned. This could rather be regulated as these students need to be prepared to embrace the technological change in the world.
In the western world students are allowed to use phones outside learning hours. This doesn't affect their performance in school. "Woti awu a, woti awu". I admit staying in phone for too long may affect their performance though. The best is to regulated the usage of phones

Smashing of the phones to destruction isn't sensible. Best thing to do is to confiscate the phones and give it to their parents.
After all, they will get to use the phones when they are back home from school

It is a wrong decision because the internet operators have every authority to switch off the unwanted icons, leaving the others in use. Hon. Dr Apaak should ensure that early childhood and primary education programmes products from university write basic licesure exams and not shs licesure exams and have basic schools categories. Also basic schools placing special request for shs teachers during national service be stopped because the national service prepares such in-coming teachers minds and spirit for the challenges ahead which is higher than the basic environ.

It is 'thoughtless' actions like this one, by school authorities, that instills a culture of vengeance & violence in students. It was a very counter productive idea, to make the students destroy their own phones with stones, which could make them very angry and bitter. All they had to do was to sieze the phones in a civilised manner, and administer reasonable punishment that is acceptable in a civilised society. Dont be surprised if some of these affected students resort to acts of vengeance & violence upon graduation. This has happened in other schools in the past.
Why should they destroy their phones 10 months ago
Instead of allowing them to destroyed it they should have seized it and later must be restored to them if school vacate
