I think the response or rejoinder has made the case worse. That's why they say silence is golden. When you read paragraphs 5 and 6 together what impression do they give you? The ministry should please restrain themselves and stop trying to manipulate people's minds on issues discerning persons can easily decipher for themselves. If you don't intend scrapping the allowance will you continue to seek better ways of getting financial aid to trainee students? Or if you don't embark on a course of action, will you say students shall be paid allowances until an agreement by all is reached for another source of funding for them is reached? So effectively, what the media is reporting is true about government's intention to cancel the allowances paid to the trainee students. No amount of twisting can wash the truth away.

Well articulated, you have said it all. This is what we call, "damage control".
Even a kindergarten child doesn't need to be told the meaning of what the minister said. We live to see.

I understand gov.gains at college of education product marketing as cheaper but care must be taken in order not to collapse the area teaching side and destruction and discouragement of university professional graduate teachers who are pushed to the background of management .Disrespect of NTC core mandate should be a thing of the past . NO college of education teacher should be accepted to teach and manage shs schools.Their presence in shs affects quality teaching and good salary for university professional graduate teachers at the time that these tertiary teachers are to be paid according to credit hours or periods, the hinderance is well noted.

University students were receiving allowances prior to 1975. When the students demonstrated against General Acheampong's government, the General cancelled the free allowance but being goodnatured immediately substituted it with a loan scheme. The teacher and nursing students are tertiary students and should be given loans
Let's wean ourselves from this penchant for free things.
