  The teacher and nurses training allowance is a most useless policy. Government knows it but for political expediency they're afraid to cancel it. I hope the outcome of the national educational dialogue gives them the courage to cancel it and replace it with the student's loan scheme.

  If you don't maintain this policy, you will be faced with the problem of attracting professional teachers to teach our children. Most students from poor homes qualify for University but decide to go to Colleges of Education because of the allowance. Cancel it and Lecturers in these Colleges will become redundant. We should not use cost cutting as a policy to destroy our educational system. You cannot not bond them to teach for five years if they rely on loans to fund their education.
