Alan would have been the natural choice to be NPP flagbearer in 2028. Based on Akufo Addo's behaviour and mistreatment, he should have just taken leave to step aside from the NPP with the express promise of returning to fix what Akufo Addo has destroyed in the Party instead of resigning from the Party and badmouthing a party he helped form.
