Our democracy is not benefiting us if any of the following and others are true:
if our people consistently remain poor, hungry and are not certain where their next meals will come from
if there is no law and order (like we have in Ghana); police show up if there is bribe to be taken and judgement is awarded in our courts to only those who can pay to influence the judge (even if they were wrong)
if the politicians are corrupt and are only there to RULE us, pillage the country throughout their term in office but not to serve their constituents
if the parliament is just there to rubberstamp anything the president proposes
if the president can just have a direct access to the country's coffers
if the president appoints everybody to every position thus surrounding himself with 'yes men and women'
if we always have shortsighted regimes which come into power and never build on the progress of their predecessors (abandon projects which were started by the previous regimes just to start something else they never will complete)

I have no fancy way of describing these as the good Doctor has described above but there are more failures of our democracy than these. The average person is not that innocent either. We are equally as dishonest as our leaders. We do our own little damages here and there like stealing from the government and each other any chance we get.

Have just realised this after your defeat? During your nomination campaign your promised to appoint 8 people from each constituency that voted for you. That promise conflicts with numbers 2 and 3 of the things that you claimed weaken democracy. Isn't this too little too late coming from somebody who was part of Akufo Addo's government for 8 years which was guilty of all seven issues that damaged the economy of Ghana.
