Mogtari is albeit an intelligent woman who can very well fit and manage any other ministry. However over the years I have been watching her and my opinion about her in this matter is that, other than giving her that prime job as a gift or compensation in return for her hard work and loyalty to President Mahama, she is not at all cut out for the top job at the Foreign Affairs ministry. Surely we are not duplicating the "clearing agent" and Ayorkor fairy tale are we?

I think that Ablakwa is an unparalleled option.. But for his age which is a bit on the young side, I do not think that anybody else in the NDC is more qualified than Ablakwa for the Foreign Affairs slot. For starters, he has been a member of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs subcommittee for years. He is not only well-informed on international issues but he has got the right political slant of the subject matter. He is good looking, well-presented and well-dressed. He is forthright on critical issues concerning Africa. He is imbued with natural diplomatic discipline and body language. His anti-corruption escapades have already made him a familiar face and a hero throughout the African continent and globally on tik-tok - even whilst in opposition.

Okudjeto is overly gifted with just the right kind of skills which if put to the test at the Foreign Ministry, is guaranteed - with minimum delay, to resurrect the good name of our much abused country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the most important Ministry - second only to that of Finance, in the scheme of governance in any serious country. We really can't afford to continue to bastardize that institution by reducing its status as a reward for loyalty. We should do well to exploit and return the massive sentiments of goodwill that the international community showed to the people of Ghana at President Mahama's inauguration, by stepping out on the right foot.
