Another example is Switzerland with an area of a MERE 41,277sq. km(probably smaller than Ashanti Region!). Take Ghana's area of 238,533 sq. km! A Federal of Ghana would be in order. If Mahama makes turning Ghana into a Federation HIS sole AGENDA this four years, his legacy would be unmatched. He should use the opportunity to radically transform Ghana's political landscape for good.

It appears that some of our leaders saw and appreciated the flaws in the Constitution, which was drawn up by a committee/commission boycotted by the Ghana Bar Association (at the time), when they were in opposition. But after winning power and tasting the 'sweetness' there-off, the took on a despotic nature and forgot all the flaws the saw in the past.
A constitutional review is long overdue; and must urgently address the excessive powers of the Excecutive Arm of Government. The constitution stipulates a 'unitary presidential system'. This could be changed to the Semi-presidential system, with an elected Executive President as Head of State, and a Prime Minister and Cabinet, who although named by the President (usually from the Majority in Parliament), will be responsible to the Legislature. This could curb the nepotism and other abuses of power we have witnessed in the past.
