When we all spoke against the ways and manner Akuffo Addo did his appointments to the benefit of the NDC, we would want NDC to tow the same line.

I hold a different view. It's all about process in managing the constitutional process. Majority of Ghanaians will agree that parliament is not entirely independent of the executive arm. The 8th parliament with the majority side and the Speaker resident in opposing sides attest to this fact. It's the party choice, superintendent by the elected president who becomes the Speaker and not who members of parliament wishes. If any constitution ar all, it's heavily in favour of the executive arm. This is because there's too much power concentration in the executive arm. Our only way of breaking this power is to go federal.

Expressing an opinion on national issues in itself must be welcome especially when such opinions are from such revered personalities like Prof. The problem is the inconsistency and selective application of Law, morals and common sense in this country. Once it is NDC and JDM, the highest standards of life must be applied. The President -elect was compelled to make a statement to clarify his position due to some unsubstantiated rumors and lobbying behind the scenes and one wonders how this breaches any standard. After all, openly expressing his preference does not in any way prevent the MP's from rejecting him if they do not prefer him as their SOP, neither does it impede the SOP from exerting independence in parliament. In any case, the 3rd arm of government (Chief Justice) that is supposed to be extremely independent without partisan affiliations is appointed by the President. In my humble opinion, people like Prof should be guided not to major in trivialities but concentrate on the majors such as advocating for Constitutional Reviews for amendments if his convictions have adequate basis and legitimacy. Thank you.

I large agree with him. Parliament should be seen to initiate and champion its own affairs even though they are there on the tickets of political parties. We want our majority to work in tandem with the NDC to deliver what Ghanaians expect. The situation where the party looks to the East while the MPs look to west will not augur well for a smooth administration. President Mahama has a mandate to deliver and working in concert with parliamentary caucus makes delivery very easy.
