  Efforts are being made to "end child marriage" which is below 18 yrs, yet thenkaw permits them to have sex at 16 years, resulting in single mothers and abortions. When will any of us be wise enough to stop this contradiction? We seem to create problems then ignore them while complaining about the results.

  All these are cultural and traditional issues which in my view must be looked at in a positive way looking at scientific research on the issue.

  How does someone at 16 have unprotected sex knowing the consequences just as an 18 year old but rules in marriage differ.
  
  Something is not right. It is the same old people who mostly marry them young.
  
  I think, mostly the root cause is due to poverty.

  I think, our traditional leaders must look into that seriously and do whatever it takes not to disadvantage any child by pushing marriage on them at very young ages.
