I think the tax man Seth Tekper did well for Ghana under his reign . He is a conservative finance minister who concentrated on the basics. That’s what we need now; the strong basics; nothing over the top. Nothing over ambitious . Simply a return to the basics. Mahama is looking to scrap nuisance taxes, get the economy to be robust and increase revenue out of the spiraling effect. Who best to implement this strategy than the tried and tested Seth Tepker?

In our country, we deem ministerial appointments as “rewards” for hardwork for one’s party. And for that reason, people will deem it as unrewarding for Ato Forson to be named deputy minister. But I tell you what, if we want the best for our nation and not individuals, then Ato Forson can be made deputy finance minister. He has a ton of good experience from that ministry to help Seth Tekper deliver. You need your best men at it. Remember he may still be retained as majority leader which is a lot of work . And in that case, a deputy minister role may make it flexible for him to do good work in Parliament.
