After reading the news piece above about "3y3 zu, 3y3 za" jargon of the N.D.C, I wish to state clearly that the content of this item is not accurate. The story of the slogan or jargon " 3ye zu, 3ye za" originated from the Buli language ( A.K.A kanjaga people) of the upper east region of Ghana.
It happened that during ex-president Rawlings term of moving from military rule to democracy, He(president Rawlings) went on a campaign tour of the upper east region, where he visited Sandema. He paid a curtesy
call on The king of the Builsa people (king Azantilo ). As tradition of the Builsa people, visitors are served with a local drink prepared from millet ( ZA) called zuom. So when Rawlings was served with it by king Azantilo, the former (Rawlings) asked what that was? And the later ( King AZANTILO)replied that "ka zuom" meaning drink, then he asked again, what is it made of ? and the king replied, za (milet) . Then when he Rawlings left the palace and was addressing the people, he said the king offered him ' zu' instead of zuom and when he enquired what it's made from, the the king said it was Za ( milet). From the the people started saying 3y3 zu , 3y3 za and this spread to become a slogan for the N.D.C.
