  A teacher who earned GHC480 in 2017 takes home GHC 4500 in 2024. He paid GHC1 for a ball of kenkey in 2017 and he buys the same size of kenkey for GHC5 in 2024. Of course the teacher is well off, richer and has a stronger purchasing power in 2024 than he had in 2017. The same is true with the producer price of cocoa. And it is true that the price of gold on the world market has doubled, making the illegal miners (galamsey operators) in Ghana richer. The BBC commentator got it all wrong. Ghana is a happy country. The NPP government is driving the economy in the right direction.
