Welcome home Nana Prempeh 1.
The fall of Asante was inevitable after the departure of the Dutch Gold Coast.
Let also remember that many Chiefs and other important leaders were sent out of country as a former of punishment.
Both the Dutch and English used this exile punishment to some Fante Chief and Ahanta chiefs.
They even sometimes take away the head of a dead Chief to Europe or somewhere.
A typical exemple is the head of Ahanta King Bado Bonsu 11 in 1838.
Ghanaians should know that the Dutch took many people to Indonesia and even Holland.
These people were not slaves
Asantehene Nana Kweku Dua 1 even signed a contract with the Dutch to supply them soldiers in 1837.
Nana Agyeman Prempeh was very lucky to return home.So many couldn't come back home.Tnx.

The British instituted Asante confederacy in 1935 for administrative and taxation purpose and made Prempeh 2 the figurehead of the confederacy.
Prempeh 2 was reporting to the British as a middle man between the organized chiefs in the middle belt (Asante and Bono enclave) and the british. After Bonokyempen seceded from the confederacy, they renamed it as asanteman council and now otumfour calls himself asantehene.
