2. They are so ensconced in Accra that any transfer outside Accra is considered a punishment instead of them seeing it as part of the nature of their job

What is all this? I have said it severally that Civil Police Officers don't retire with their ranks or titles. If you address or refer to the retired Assistant Commissioner of Police Agordzo, as ACP Agordzo, how will you call or refer to a former or retired Inspector General of Police? Will you call or refer to him as IGP or COP Kudalor, for a example? A retired Police Officer is simple addressed or referred to as Mr/Dr So,so and so. The point has to be forcefully made to the effect that, it is only military officers who have been honourably released from the Service are entitled by an Act of Parliament (Armed Forces Act 1962) to use their ranks in civil life. This explains why we often hear retired military officers being addressed in their ranks, such as Colonels, Majors, Lieutenant Colonels, Brigadier Generals, Major Generals, Lieutenant Generals etc retired. There is a good reason for this. Same can not be said or apply to the Civil Police. Journalists and bloggers are to take note.
