This is the type lies and deception that some religious leaders and traditional rulers are promoting in Ghana. Religion in Ghana is no more about worshipping God but supporting and propelling politicians to power. Politicians who by their incompetence, dishonesty and lies have brought the economy and the progress of Ghana to its knees. Christians in Ghana have shamefully turned the houses of God into dens for politics. I question the sincerity and credibility of this of not for political gain. Will the parish priest allow this same space for NDC, CPP, GUM, PNC etc? Some priests in Ghana are deeply embedded into partisan politics, a move I find to be dangerous for the future of the Catholic Church in Ghana. Similar incidences occurred in the USA and elsewhere but that is purely ideological and sometimes moral because of the Catholic church’s stand on some moral issues. In the case of some Catholic priests and other pastors in Ghana, it is purely for ethnic and tribal reasons. This i find to be a dangerous precedence. The bishops conference should come out with policies on the use of church for political campaigns. I see NPP flags and paraphernalia displayed and hanging throughout the chapel. The ambo that is meant for proclaiming the word of God is being used for political rallies. I’m not certain if this is taking place during the celebration of the mass but from the priest wearing a green Chasuble and blessing the party faithful, I gather that it is within the celebration of the mass. I’ll not be surprised if the attention of the apostolic Nuncio is drawn to this aberration and the Holy See’s intervention is needed to check the unbridled political appetite of some priests in Ghana and elsewhere
