Useless journalist! Do Civil Police Officers proceed on pension with their ranks/titles? The man is no longer in the Police Service,so why is he referred to or addressed as an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)? It is only military officers without blemish record are entitled by an Act of Parliament (Armed Forces Act 1962, vol 1) to use their ranks when they proceed on retirement. One of the reasons for that is that retired military officers are placed on reserved list('R' List), sò in time of overwhelming crisis, they will be recalled to service. And during such situations, their insertion will be easy by not create any command and control problems. So the fact that a retired military officer is referred to by his rank, does not mean a retired police officer should also be referred to by his rank. Apart from the Generals, no military officer retires at the age of 60 years. So the attempt to equate and compare the rank structures in the military and the civil police should not come up for discussion at all, because they are different entities entirely and also fall under different ministries.

A military officer who is honourably released will retain his identity as such even after death, the Civil Police officer on other hand will maintain his Civil identity during retirement and even after death. This the legal situation as at now.The satire attempt to compare and equate the condition of service, rank structures and all, between the military and the civil security institutions is useless and stupid. There should not be any unnecessary arguments about this. A simple research will settle it.
