Ghana, even though poor, gives University scholarships to even some foreign students, yet most Ghanaians pay for University education. Do you think that the finances of Ghana will allow her to give wholesale scholarships to all University Students? Anyway, University Students in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Britain, France, Spain, Germany, ltaly, Sweden and some more take loans for their University Education. Very few are given academic scholarships and NEED SCHOLARSHIPS, especially for the disabled and financially handicapped ones who cannot get people to co sign for their Student loans. University education in most of the Western Countries are never free. Ghana cannot offer Scholarships for her students if we want qualitative education. At my time, University Education in Ghana was free because there were only three universities and not many people could pass the GCE ADVANCED LEVEL to gain admission into them. At my time UCC admitted only 168 students for the First year and their education was free. Can Ghana do that now?

Free education has two implications. It is never free because the government has to pay for it. At the moment we don’t even have money to buy medicines and other critical services, and the government is broke so free education will turn out to be more expensive for us. Secondly, free education is associated with mass education where people simply pass through the educational system and come out knowing nothing. India and China invested heavily in education in the eighties, sponsoring citizens abroad to study science and technology. They are building their countries now. Let’s stop expecting free things and plan rationally. There are many other ways to keep children in school than offering them food. I am strongly in favour of alleviating hardships of parents but given our poor curriculum, poor quality teachers and poor administrators, we are bound to fail. We have many people who are currently in government and who have gone through free education. Check their decision making and their behaviour. Free education is never a good thing for Ghana. High quality educational standards can bring us out of poverty.

Firstly, there's no such phrase as "it's a high time", unless you're now coining it. The indefinite article"a" is not used at all here. Secondly, the gentleman's tenses are perfectly correct, though your suggestion also fits: interrogated and interrogates are interchangeable in this instance, as far as I know. Thanks.

I ended up joining the Ghana only to see the difference between rich and poverty through the lens of a Commissioned Soldier and An uncommissioned soldier. Sad. Any leader for fairness is our system will be highly appreciated. Ignorance is our problem. Farmers/ Miners children suffer for the benefit of our country. Something our leaders should try and play a fair game. Look at the two competitors. Without free education for the North. How on earth would it be possible for the two to compete. They would be chasing COWS. LOOK AT BABIDIN OR WHATEVER. If free education is Good for the north. It should be good for all. Kwame Nkrumah was an evil devide and rule idiot. We do remember the history of NHIS of Kufour. When Attah Mills came to power following Kufour, he found it hard to continue the program and came up with something different for the Ashanti Region. The NDC does not like the Ashanti Region. They have never liked the Ashanti Region.
