The NPP is now struggling to survive. They are afraid of becoming the minority party because this can potentially trigger investigations into some of their activities in the last eight years. It can also damage their criminal attempts to steal the elections so they are desperate to avoid being the minority party at this time. Tell all the criminals to run because the noose is tightening. We gave you eight years to prove yourselves and yes, you proved to be dishonest, corrupt and incompetent. You will be kicked out and put in prison where you serve.

John Jinapor even put it mildly. The Supreme Court is being paid for proper translation of the constitution. Tell me which law or rule did the speaker break? When independent MPs change sides to join a party in parliament, they add numbers to the party. When MPs from a party become independent, they reduce the number of the party’s MPs. The latter happened to the NPP so their numbers were reduced and the party with higher numbers became the new majority. The speaker only follows what he observes in parliament, and therefore announced the NDC as the new majority party. Which part of this are you struggling to understand?

The Speaker should have seek the Supreme Court to interpret the Law as written. Parliament make The Law, The Court interpret it, and the Executive implements the Laws. The Speaker can not disobey the Court, Three equal branches of Government, Speaker is not Parliament, and an MP can not lose his/her seat to contest a future election. They owe their constituents their representation to this Parliament not the next one.

The Speaker can interprete the Standing Orders of Parliament but not the Constitution of Ghana.
Article 99 and Article 130 has set up procedures. The Speaker of Parliament does not come in any of these procedures. He therefore acted ultra virus. Beyond his limits that is why the powers of the SC has been invoked.

The truth of the matter is that both NPP and NDC have sacked these affected MPs.
They are no longer party members, they are campaigning on as Independent candidates.
On what law can one candidate belong to 2 different parties in parliament ?
Where in this world would you find a member of parliament for 2 parties.
By the way,if Bagbin was wrong, why can't the Suprême Court say it ?
How long does it take to interprete just one Article 97 of the Constitution ?
It tells me that the Suprême Court is afraid to interprete the Law but trying to use crooked means to keep NPP in the majority of which they are not.
Even before the dispute, NPP has the same number of seats as NDC.The Fomena Independent candidate was not on NPP ticket in parliament and EC's records.
Therefore, NPP must calm down and accept the facts and move government business forward.Tnx.

When Bawumia is making inroads in the Volta region, one stupid NDC MP is saying that they will give Voltarians corn dough and Maggie because that is what they deserve.

This very Supreme Court Chief Justice is too much predictable and showing an open bias towards the NDC. How could she empanel 4 Supreme Court Justices within 4 hours to deal with Afenyo Martin suit and to stay the Speaker’s pronouncements? The Chief Justice intention was to stay proceedings until the substantive suit was heard and that would be after the election. At that time the outcome of the suit would be declared moot, and would be of no use. This is exactly what she did with DOMELOVO the former Auditor General when it was declared that the president by removing him was unlawful. By then the president had already hounded DOMELOVO from office, This is exactly what she intended to do with this matter!

I'm a middle school leaver but l understood the law clear. If you come to parliament as an independent candidate and later you join a party, you have to vacate your seat. In the same vain if you have been elected on a party ticket and you have decided to go independent, you have to vacate your seat. I heard that a party has to write to the Speaker. If the action of an independent will benefit the party, do you think they will write to the speaker?. Another person said, the law will apply for the next parliament. What is the guarantee they will win the next election. This my take.
