I am not an Ashanti but I highly respect their rich culture. It makes me proud to be Ghanaian/African. Throughout history, the Ashanti's were the only group of people that defeated the British empire at a time when they were the world's super power. They conquered the Americas, Australia, India, China, and two thirds of the present world. Yet, a tribe in modern day Ghana defeated them 3 times. According to British history, it took them almost a whole century to defeat the Ashanti empire. Whilst it took months to conquer India and other people, Ashanti-Anglo wars started in 1824 and ended in 1901. We should be proud of who we are as Africans instead of tribalistic tendencies. Ashanti history dignifies all Africans and not just Ashantis.

Last time it was an attempt to foist a so-called "National Cathedral" on Ghanaians but that attempt flopped ,so now this! All these are desperate attempts by some of our "elites" to unify everybody under some form of "symbol" so that they can control the population.
Singapore is ample proof tha a nation made of different races,with different religious beliefs can co-exist peacefully and build one of the world's most successful , most prosperous snd most developed nations. About 6 to 7 decades ago Singapore was at about the same level as Ghana in terms of its economic development yet today it has a truley enviable economy in the world.Why is that? The answer is simple:
1.They believe in honest hard work, integrity in public office.Public officials and all levels of Politicians are held to a very high standard of behaviour and probity.
2.They cherish education.Singaporean parents will endue great sacrifices to ensure their children get top notch relevant education.
3.They recognised the vital role of building good infrasture in national development: excellent road network,efficient maritime transport (because they are a maritime nation), excellent airports and air travel. They invested very heavily in healthcare,education, telecommunications from the word go.
4.They have a very healthy respect for the rule of law which absolutely vital for any nation which wants to develop to a high degree. In fact it is one of the least corrupt countries in the world.
