Who told this woman that public opinion favors NDC’s position? It’s just amazing that people in the NDC who are supposed to know better, or one would think have some manners behave as people from the medieval period. If public opinion is the basis of enforcing the laws in the society , then there should be no need for court or the parliament; because these two bodies are responsible for making laws and enforcing the laws in the country.
And which scientific study or poll suggests that public opinion is in favor of the NDC’s position? The NDC is known for being at the loggerheads with the Judiciary since the time of the AFRC/ N/ NDC days of infamy. It’s because that party is made up of uncivilized people who staged coups and inflicted serious human rights abuses on Ghanaians. They are all local people. The NDC lack exposure. And I’m not going to mince any words about that.

The Judicial Process is guided by the Law and not by public sentiment or opinions. Parliament, if there is a Parliament worthy of that name in Ghana, is the conscience of the people as far as the function of law-making is concerned. If the Judiciary is to "listen to public opinions", as Hannah Tetteh insinuates then it cannot dispense justice, for it will be in a dilemma as to which section of the public it should "listen" to. In the matter at hand, the public opinion the court should listen to would be the opinion that supports the position of the NDC Caucus, presumably? This is untenable. Thus, the court strives for the correct interpretation of the Constitution and the Law in the dispensation of justice and not necessarily to please any section of Ghanaian society.
