  This was when football was working in Ghana. Most came from Under 17 and most graduated to the Senior National Team. Nowadays, they've destroyed our football and nothing is working. The destruction started with the former thief GFA so no one should mention that Nyantekyi guy. At his time, everything else was destroyed apart from the Black Stars. Black stars wasn't destroyed then because the neucleus was strong i.e. Essien, Muntari, Appiah, Dede etc. They all went through the ranks of Ghana football playing for the local league and junior teams.
  Nowadays, both our local league and junior teams are almost non existent so there is no nucleus for the Black stars.
  The team that played against Sudan only had 2 players who had played our junior teams before i.e. Kudus and Ati Zigi. Even those 2 didn't play together. In contrary, Steven Appiah's time had at least 50% of the team graduating from the Junior ranks and also a few playing in the local league. Now thew local league is dead so is our junior teams. If the fundamentals are weak, the results will expose you. I don't blame any of the coaches, from CK Akunnor and Otto Addo.

Thankfully the government is now introducing astro turfs in communities. We will begin to see a rise in talents in 5 to 10 years time.

Still believe FC, Bernard FC, Sempefe FC, Vision FC, etc on my mind.

  Now I have said it before and will say it again that, if the tree forgets its root, the branches will never survive countless of bearing fruit. The lates ET Mensah former sports minister Alhaji MD Jawula and Mr Ben Coffie who where former FA Bosses all together built a solid foundation for the black stars. One may ask how. They made our local league very competitive and attarcative and supported it with the juvenile football from colts to division one. The competitiveness of the league made it so exciting that players where not too much attracted to foreign league and so quality players were filled up in the league attracting spectators to troop into the stadium and watch their favorite stars displaying some delightful football. This also translated to the juvenile nationals teams from under 17 to 23 which fed the black stars with quality players even when they are local players. Success we had was in 1991 we won our first FIFA under 17 in Italy then some of these young boys where promoted to the senior national team where in 92 the Afcon played in Senegal black star won Silva, in the same year Ghana became the first ever African nation to reach the finals in the Olympics game hosted in Barcelona where they won bronze. The following year 93, they went to fifa under 17 tournament in Japan and won silver and same year, they played in the fifa under 20 and became the first ever African nation to reach the finals and lost to Brazil by two goals to one. In 95 they went to fifa under 17 in Ecuador and beat Brazil 3-2 in the finals and won gold, in 96 they went to fifa under 23 met Brazil in quarter finals and lost to them by 4 goals to 2. In 97 they met Brazil again in the fifa under 17 in Egypt finals where we lost by two goals to one wining goal was scored by Ronaldiho who came from the bench and we took the Silva, we met them 99 in New Zealand quarter finals where they eliminated us in penalty shoot out. In 2001, we went to fifa under 20 in Argentina played Argentina in the finals and lost by three goals to one. Samuel Osei Kuffour was a product of 1991 squad who won fifa under 17, Stephen Appiah was part of the team who also won the fifa under 17 in 1995 you have other players who were also products of the under 17 and 20 from 97 to 2001 who qualified us to our first World Cup including some good local players like keeper Sammy Adjei and Sheila Heliasuh due to the competitiveness of our local league. This was the root I referred to earlier on a solid foundation the black star was built on which was bearing so much fruit like, 2002 World Cup, 2006, 2010, and 2014 which we shine to the world. Unfortunately Nyantekye destroyed the foundation gradually by focusing on the fruit and ignoring the roots. He promoted himself, also form his football team for the first time in our history an FA boss was owning a team which set in Nepotism collapsing our football gradually. Traditional teams who can pull crowds begin to fall making out stadiums very empty. Corrupt politicians begin to have a say in the national team which affected player selection in terms of quality being compromised. Tribalism and politics have been the silent killer of our game. In 2012 when black star reach the finals of the afcon with Ivory Coast where we lost on penalties, people in Ashanti region where jubilating for the nation lost because it was the NDC to claim the glory which was how low our politicians would have incite their strong hold of something which unite us has now disuniting us, can you imagine? Well folks now you know how far we have come and the challenges that is posing us as a nation. Our politicians have gradually brought us to a very narrow and steep path of the road and we need to wake up in every aspect of our lives before they destroy us with their greed. It is politicians in disguise who are controlling everything including football in this country. We need to amend our constitution bans this must be a holistical approach
