The corrupt kufour government decided to float a new airline with airwest of the US which had no international experience. They borrowed US$ 4 million from SSNIT to start. I don't believe SSNIT was ever paid back before the new airline became bankrupt

Let us face facts. The long stay of JJ Rawling in office and his rifts with the west was the main cause of our losing the Railways, Ghana Airways and The Black Star Line as they struggled for a long time under the Rawlings long stay. He did us very huge harm and should have stayed for only 8years, We were enemies of the western world and endured lots of sanctions. Rawling was good but the long stay erased the gains of the revolution. President Kuffour could not save our country as we were sliding fast.

Grand theft and mismanagement in Ghana airways went on for years , yes the staff sold tickets in organized syndicates , I was once on my way to a BA travel agent to purchase a ticket for Accra , when I met a gentleman who told me he had just purchased a much cheaper Ghana airways ticket. He showed me barbershop where if I left money with my details a Ghana airways ticket would be ready within 8 hours . It was the norm , and many other so called black economy practices. We will never change people are busy scamming our own citizens £12000 for work visas which they have no right whatsoever to do.
