  Let me remind you again, Pelicles, that Mahama/NDC isn't in power. It is Akuffo Addo and the NPP who are in control of governmental affairs and our country. Let me repeat an analogy you didn't respond to the other day: say, you bought a house with history of terrible maintenance by the owner. Suppose your relative sustains a major injury attributable to the poor maintenance of the house, which you bought. What would reasonable people say? 1) Why don't confront the previous owner or 2) Why didn't you fix the problem since you knew about it before purchasing the house?
  
  The answer is obvious. I hate it when I see people arguing about NDC this, NDC that; NPP, this, NPP that--as if these parties care about the average citizen. Akuffo Addo could have enacted the proposal he announced to combat galamsey seven to eight years ago. Remember that he campaigned on this, and his recent announcement is only because of public outcry and threats of demonstration. The point is, if Akuffo Addo could have done this years ago but chose not to, it simply conveys his complicity in galamsey. He and/or the NPP are directly or indirectly benefiting from it. Nobody needs a reminder that the NDC is also complicit.

  I think the earth moving machines should be confiscated rather than being burnt and use them to reclaim the land destroyed. The problem though is how to ensure proper accountability. I will suggest the setting up of an independent body comprising journalists, the police, local chiefs and opinion leaders and Civil Society Organisations to take inventory of such seized machines.
