Would government have told us about this so called collabo between soldiers and small scale miners to fight galamsey if not for the threat of TUC and other Labour Unions to embark on a nationwide strike and demos over galamsey? You can bring Presidents Obama, Clinton, Biden and all the best leaders the world has ever had and they will FAIL with the constitution that we are using. The entire society is corrupt and needs to be saved. Rawlings had a great opportunity after everyone became afraid to engage in corrupt practices. However, his ministers started becoming corrupt, leading to everyone forgetting about the probity and accountability mantra.

Kufuor didn’t help matters. The oil find was mishandled and he and his cronies pocketed 3%, giving only 10% to the country while dashing the rest of the 87% to some old racist in Texas.

If there should be a revolution today, not one of the so called political apparatchiks will be saved.

This type of corrupt activities some Ghanaian did during Rawlings regime and he dealt with them and they never liked him especially some of the Ghanaians who's grandfathers and fathers were engaged in such corrupt activities at the time Rawlings took over. Both Mahama and Kuffuor had some corrupt activities during their term, but Akuffo Addo is the worst president ever. Right now Ghana is corrupt beyond repair and who ever will try to come and fix the corruption will be attacked by the corrupt Ghanaians. Africans, blacks we have problem. It is time the constitution changes, give power back to the people via parliament strip the prez of ultimate powers now before it is too late.

There should be a need of 75% approval from parliament so it is no more "winner takes all" system like lotto but all inclusive governance, so we can take the best longterm decisions for the country. With this we can see the relevance of even small parties in parliament and this will bolster the growth our beloved country. Currently power is in the hands of a greedy individual with his party whips who only have their interests paramount to that of the nation and absolutely no love for the nation.

Jut imagine that currently, the prez have almost all the power to appointment all public sector managers, ministers, military/police commanders, auditor Gen, attorney Gen, EC boss etc... At the end this will make the system work to his favor, making him corrupt and will not have respect for the people and vitto his way everywhere. Today the prez or minister can decide to go for huge loans without national interest in the name of the nation without proper checks and approval from parliament, even if it goes through parliament they will vitto it bcos they have 50+1 representation there.

Unfortunately this is an old outdated constitution left behind by Jerry who wanted only partial democracy and partial dictatorship bcos of the era.

The prez should have limited power and parliament have the most power else if this power gets into the wrong hands, we all shall suffer it. It is about time we called for a holistic overhaul of such an outdated system of governance. We shouldn't leave currupt investigations in the hands of the prez, it will simply not work. I believe a joint party government system will help this country a lot. This is just my opinion but your ideas are also welcome.

One man can't solve the problem of Ghana, let's be honest, he is not a supernatural being but together we all cam make possible. Even the British who we learnt from have changed their democratic system. In Europe, it is mostly a joint government and practice a more socialist style than a capitalist one (which only works for America). Just imagine, all our essential resources and services have been left in the hands of the greedy rich running a monopoly without price control from the government which has made standard of living very high for the poor Ghanaian.

Nkrumah was the only one that had a socialist mind set. Mahama and the NDC please prove your critics wrong and change the course of this country for the better. Npp is all about the money and their party but not the people, we already know their agenda.

This idea will pave way for even smaller and upcoming political parties to have a strong voice in parliament, so Ghana benefits as a whole not just a few greedy individuals.

Democracy meaning: Gov of the people, by the people and for the people.

DO NOT EVER ELECT DCE's, MCE's etc.....lets learn from the TIN god syndrome that has contributed to the galamsay menance. these politicians will actively continue the corrupt deals, if we elect them via political party route or not. i suggest we get external HR and AUDIT groups from various countries who are clueless about the ethnic, religious, geopolitical etc 'emotions, inclinations etc of the populace to do recruitments into the civil and public service. these foreign groups should be shuffled randomly and selected. with time, the entire civil and public servants etc will not owe any alliance to any party, religious group, ethnic group etc. the best among the lot must rise to the apex as the DCE/MCE, directors, board members etc by merit. MERIT meaning coded KPI's are set for each department, unit etc. leaders who perform grade A are the only ones who should rise to the top. this should be across the entire staff etc of these outfits. the least or zero corrupt ones when audited on their job performance should be the leaders. the dangerous corrupt ones will be caught early and pushed out. The ENTIRE GOVERNANCE MACHINERY relating to civil and public service should by design be deliberately developed to be totally INDEPENDENT AND COMPLETELY COMMITED TO THE GREATEST INTEREST OF GHANA ONLY...GHANA FIRST....F&CK THE POLITICIANS...THEY HAVE NO SOULS.

Most of the small scale miners are functionaries of the ruling NPP so collaborating with the military is a way to give a cover the small scale miners

Please, just ban all small scale mining, legal or illegal for a period for the rivers to recover, then streamline the operation of legal small scale mining and prevent illegal operations along rivers and forest reserves through legislations and enforcement.
