If something is of national interest and it's a disaster that will befall the nation and its generations, any Ghanaian national or nationals can spearhead its fight, of which Organized labour is a Ghana national association. According to the Director of Ghana Mineral Commission, NDC and John Mahama are the biggest culprits in the GALAMSEY menace.

  It turned out it was John Cribo Dariga Man Mahama who exacerbated the illegal mining situation by issuing most of the mining licenses that are being used to plague our country into where are today!

Not only did the criminal kingpin issued those innumerable number of the licenses, he also went around the mining enclaves and assured the GALAMSEY operators that he will allow them to continue with their illicit operations, if he won the 2020 elections.   

That was after President Akuffo-Addo has put his presidency on the line and burning excavators and chanfein machines that the illegal miners were using to destroy the Ghanaian landscape.   As if that’s not enough the deceptive goon also promised to allow the menace to continue to the extent of publicly giving assurance that will release all the people who were incarcerated for engaging in the acts.   

John Mahama and Asiedu Nketia who is said to be born in the Ivory Coast are the prominent members of the illegal mining industry.   

Aren’t you surprised that today John Cribo Dariga Mahama has bribed some leaders of the organized labor to undertake a crippling workers strike to cripple the Ghanaian economy?

Is this knucklehead aware that many Labour Unions have set up funds to give free medical treatment to their members for chronic ailments and diseases that are expensive to treat, like the ones caused by the presence of heavy metals being used in galamsey which are finding its way into the water and food chains. Why should Organised Labour not protect the right to life and health of its members, not to mention the enormous financial implications for the unions when this is allowed to continue. You have forgotten that the galamsey menace affects organised labour's members negatively: health issues, cocoa farms being destroyed and this affecting farm hands, the possibility of our trading partners (e.g. EU, UK, USA, China etc) banning the exportation of Ghana's produce to their countries and economic blocs etc. All these will invariably and negatively affect labour.

Is organised labour not composed of ordinary Ghanaians who drink polluted water everyday as a result of illegal mining? If the government is clothed with powers as prescribed in the Constitution, why are we blaming someone else for our failures and why should people who know better defend and condone nonsense?
Those who think this problem is far from their doorstep should think of their love ones, people in their communities. And let Dr, Anomah be reminded that people look up to him not as a blind man but as one who calls a spade a spade.

Organized Labour just wants to awaken the sleeping Akufo-Addo's government to the reality of the massive destruction being caused to the environment by galamsey. It.is so disappointing that people with knowledge who can help the country to develop by contributing meaningfully rather allow their political party affiliations to take the better part of them.
The stark truth which we should not overlook is that galamsey is a threat to our future survival as a nation. We must responsibly avoid over politicizing the galamsey menace.
