When we decided to a unitary state, our chiefs yielded the right to move freely in Ghana to the state. Yes, out of respect a politician may call upon a chief. If the politician decides not to call upon a chief, the politician has already damaged his prospect of winning in that community. Nevertheless, the Drobonso chief has no legal right to sack Cheddar. The rule of law must prevail.

And so l think the chief has no right to disallowed him to do his campaign. The town does not belong to the chief, he is a " caretaker " not " owner" of the town. If he owes the town, then he should have his own schools, police, roads, post office, rules and laws. So far as the government do all these things in the town means that the chief doesn't own the town. Sometimes simply courtesy and respect solves problems.

No chief can sack any politician from doing a campaign in any town or village in Ghana because chiefs do not have the constitutional mandate of law administration and enforcement to do just that! Even the Asantehene, a chief in a certain jurisdiction in Ghana, cannot force anyone, whether by word or subpoena, to appear in his court over any issue! Nothing in the constitution or the Chieftaincy Act has established that.
The constitution of Ghana needs to be clearer in so many areas, including the nation's governance system, land administration, and appropriation. Pluralism in these areas of the law doesn’t make sense. It is either Ghana goes with parliamentary democracy or presidential democracy. In the same way, you can’t call chiefs custodians of private, stool, and non-statutory lands, then vest a residual power in the hands of the government over mineral lands, with such an enormous power that ostensibly usurp arbitration and allied law enforcement powers from chiefs who to this end, merely sit as 'paper tigers' on customary lands!
