I don't believe this reportage is true but if it is, then it is rather unfortunate... how many people are we plunging into grave danger and irreversible harm if we don't force the hand of leaders to curb the galamsey menace...?
Haven't we seen the unrelenting attitude of few in government towards their bid of abrogating this menace particularly because of parochial benefits... when it's in their power to do so?
Is industrial action the very first step considered by the organized labour?
How many times and years have the government been engaged in dialogues on this matter ?
And has there been any recognizable yields from these dialogues...?
Coercing the government to immediately take revolutionary steps in curbing this menace now not worth the prevention of a long term cataclysmic health consequence? Are we saying we are myopic and don't care?
It's either we enjoy just talking, beating about the Bush or we really are oblivious of what devastation looming at us. May be we aren't myopic nor ignorant , may be we just don't care...

The president and the government are not ready to take an urgent step in stopping this ! All the president needs is is to give a state of emergency on water bodies and forest and release security officers out there ! How long will it take him to give such a command! Government has all the resources to his disposal ,the army and the police but saying he needs more time is a shame ! We need to sell Ghana back to Britain

Galamesy is an existential threat to all Ghanaians. When doctors go on strike for their conditions of service, they are not aware that patients are on dialysis or they have emergencies to attend to. Hypocrisy.

Exactly my thought... we could be playing around pretending to remedying this galamsay menace or really actionise talks of curbing this menace especially when the political parties, some state agencies have neck-deep involvement. How do you petition a culprit to solve a crime he is well part of especially when he has no regrets?
The industrial action by organized labor was not the first step. It's become needful that certain people are coerced to doing the obvious right...

Most of the Ghana medical association leadership are NPP supporters and so will not agree to strike. GMA should have been the first institution to go on strike because we're talking about the health of the people.
