Citizens with local currency earnings but an unduly large appetite for foreign consumption. What do you expect from that combination? We prefer to import everything - goods and services - and turn around to be surprised by the slide of the local currency. There are 500 free-to-air TV channels plus thousands more online. If you have chosen to subscribe to Netflix for $20 a month, you should be ready to pay more and more cedis for the same $$ amount, over time.

We know how to consume but we don't know how to produce or add value. Until we change our demand patterns in this country, the frustration with a depreciating local currency will continue indefinitely, and no politician or economist can arrest this trend, despite their shallow promises.

what i have realized is that our small farms in the village and the gardens we did sustained us vey well. Now we do not do backyard garden and we buy everything. i shared with my friend that my thought on hardship in the past the current hardship and we came to conclusion that our small farms that a lot of people were engaged in the past helped a lot.
