I think u were going to push a policy better than planting for food as demand and supply is the basic tool to shift food prices in Ghana. Please, kindly get researchers to put their heads together to help u with this.   Zack, realistically, fuel price hikes and relation to food cost is in line. But the best policy is not about scraping those taxes. Simply government through the Ministry of Transport can easily work out the price component of the increment and share on transport fares as fuel surcharge instead of allowing transport unions to place a percentage on transport fares as the increment. This is the only cause of our inflation when fuel prices goes up. This is end up in profiteering which ends up in our markets. So please, if they release need policies to make life better for Ghanaian they should be in touch with some of us to solutions not this political conning approach. Because it will come back and hunt them once the lose power

  Australia, has never had VAT on fresh food and vegetables. Food consumption, is an every day way of life, and definitely has a big bearing on the cost of living to the average family......You go to a Supermarket in Kunasi Mall,and buy a 5kg bag of Apples,or 5kg bag of potatoes......you pay 20% tax on these items at the register.....15% VAT ..and additional 5 % ON the remainder 4 taxes..
  That's why when you go there,there's more staff than customers.....It's ridiculous, people can't afford to shop there......THIS EXCESSIVE TAX ON FOOD CONSUMPTION.....IS A NO BRAINER.... TO REDUCE THE COST OF LIVING..... AUSTRALIAS VAT IS 10%....FOR OVER 20 YEARS....AND SUPERMARKETS ARE CHOCKA BLOCK WITH CUSTOMERS ,FOR 7 DAYS A WEEK .......Tomatoes, Pineapples....Mangoes, Bananas..Apples.....Potatoes You name it....
  NO TAXES ,SUPERMARKETS ARE THRIVING.....AND FAMILIES HAVE FOOD ON THE TABLE.
