Akufo-Addo was said to have been "en stage professionel", a kind of french course learning environment, however, this is doubtful since the man was never known to have learned French anywhere prior to that. You ought to have been very excellent in French to be able to read law in French.

I listened to Akufo-Addo speak French and he's not close to being excellent in French.

Our curriculum has failed us, our politicians whose job it is to bring out the best educational policies have failed us, the perception of ‘can get money fast and cheap’ has failed us. Students are in school but not really studying anything because they can buy their way forward which has proved to be a disaster. The effect on the country is huge. We have lots of people in government and administration who bought their certificates and the government is unwilling to investigate. So we have unqualified people occupying very high offices. This country we call home is dead.

It was the responsibility of the university to verify their credentials before admitting them. I know US universities verify before admission, that's why I am beginning to suspect this report. I haven't seen an instance where universities don't request official transcripts from applicants. You can't blame the criminality of a small group of people on the standard of education as a whole. Again the university was suppose to do due diligence on the admissions.

My friend M.T, it is not only fake documents but also their academic performance in school. I have seen it in many universities in Europe. It wasn’t so long ago that form five certificate holders could enter straight to universities in Europe without sixth form qualification. Why? Because with the form five qualifications, they were good enough to go to the university. Not any more. Many Ghanaians with bachelor’s degrees spend about a year studying before entering their masters courses in Europe. I know it because I have worked with many of those. I don’t blame the students. Everybody in Ghana has failed them. I am angry and sad. We need to stop the idiotic politics and figure out how we can come out from this generational mess. Ghana is dying, we need to recognise that and avoid a total disaster.

The same is true for many other Ghanaians who study abroad. I didn't also have to spend a year preparing before I started my studies. I'm not saying there are no bad students from Ghana, but my problem is the false generalization of you guys when you find a couple of students involved in academic malpractice. Assuming it's true that you have worked with some of those students who performed poorly, is the sample significant to reach the conclusion that the standards of education have fallen in Ghana? Out of thousands of Ghanaians who study abroad, how many cases of those do you find? Do you know how many Ghanaians are studying in the US and doing great? You don't reach such a serious conclusion by conjecture without a bit of data to support your claim. That is the sort of responsible argument I campaign for. Not the needless mudslinging without factual basis.

Going through the Ghanaweb, the GNA, the Graphic, Times etc., is amply revealing of the seriousness of the situation, I mean, comparatively to the past. Personally, desperate, I had to write to the Ghana News Agency berating them for their sloppiness and lack of professionalism when they couldn't get very simple sentences and simple words correct, and yet couldn't find proofreaders. And we're only talking about English language.

I believe these students are not really doing well that is why they decided to investigate their credentials. If they were doing well no red flags would have been raised>
My great niece applied to a University in the US and what I did was I gather all her high school terminal reports and her WASSCE and submitted it to the Unversity. I also got WAEC to the Unversity her WASSCE and then she got admitted. No problem.

A country with all the resources and yet still so poor, can only produce brain-dead idiots like those. I passed this whole day reflecting on the possibility of anything like this happening!

Ghanaians and other West Africans in US Universities will be scrutinized to the letter, and many of them will be packing back home, once the information is public notice.

Why do we always blame the government for silly things people do and when they are caught? Some of us are not honest, and so we should stop blaming somebody for someone's stupidity. If you don't have the grades, why do you fake? Thank God most developed countries including US, Canada, Australia, France, Britain and other countries in Europe, have opened their Universities for some of us from Third World Countries with good grades and credits to come in and study with heavy scholarships. But with our dubious mentality and always trying to deceive in everything we do, we try to sabotage this great gesture. I have seen so many Ghanaians students in the US now pursuing their PHD'S, Masters, 1st degree s, and so on. And so if you don't have the grades, why do you have to fake your results? This is America, they can take a decade to investigate a case when they really want to. And so these few bad eggs, who want to destroy the reputation and the chances of other students, should face the full consequence of the law. And the " Go-fund-Me" guys, what are you trying to say? To aid criminals and deceptives? You should leave them to face the law, and eventually deported to Ghana to serve as a deterrent to others.
