Hopefully, UTAG is not being manipulated by those well-known UTAG executives who are always strategizing with the NDC. UTAG, you have lost it already. No doubt galamsey is evil. But, where were you when politicians were promising to legalize galamsey and free all those who were arrested in connection with galamsey when this government waged a 'war' on galamsey? Now this government has also realized how the opposition is ready to play politics with the fight, and no politicians wants to lose votes. That's why you and I are suppose to engage in non-political campaign against galamsey and condemn opposition elements who try to make political gain out of it. But, if we fail to condemn the opposition for promising to legalize an illegality, we shouldn't blame government for failing in the fight. If galamseyers know no party support their activities they won't blackmail government and will vote based on important issues. When a national issues enters partisan politics in Ghana, expect no solutions. Don't demonstrate against only government but also any opposition party which promise to allow it continue to send a clear signal. Otherwise, you are wasting your time.

This pressure looks like a trap; if NPP complies they will lose several parliamentary seats in the 2024 elections in mining areas as it happened in the 2020 elections and lose the presidential elections too, this time round. Why pressure now - just 3 months to elections? I expect them to put pressure on NDC too to condemn/ speak against illegal mining and stop taking political advantage of it. The two parties must fight the illegal mining together regardless of which of them is in government.
