Blame the abusive Alban Bagbin for all this. Previous speakers enjoyed this privilege without any backlash from the public. Alban Bagbin once used a motorcade from Accra to Wa for a Thanksgiving service, which resulted in the crushing of a police dispatch rider to death. We can have a discussion about giving these privileges back to the speakers of parliament after the exit of Alban Bagbin, and more reasonable persons are elected to this enviable position

I do not know of any Speaker of Parliament or CJ in any developed country who uses motorcade or siren.

I just don't understand why we love to uplift our leaders to unnecessary heights. Even the current Kumasihene is permitted to use siren and motorcade which his predecessors never did. I wish we still have Kwame Nkrumah in office.

NPP government, stop this favouritism and nepotism. If Asantehene is allowed , then all traditional rulers should be accorded with the same rights.

@Bastie. Well said. NDC should stop this favouritism and nepotism when they come to power. Unfortunately, Mahama is so weak and will never do it.

Motorcade is not to signify people of seniority in the country. It is for security. Who wants to harm the Speaker of Parliament? Nobody cares about him.

With the exception of the president, nobody should have the privilege to use "Siren" or whatever to disturb the public peace. Who the hell is the Speaker, the CJ?
Using the siren to weave their way through the streets in Ghana means they are who or what? Ghana is what it is due to our mindset, attitude, posture. We are nothing but people who trying to be part of this damn world expecting someone to dictate to us.

Sometimes one wonder if it is a circus or acrobatic performance they are exhibiting. It is sad that the IGP accept this indiscipline behavior among the outriders police officers. It is rare to see outriders in the developed world behave the way they do in Ghana. Our mother land Ghana is desperately in need of a leader who can turn things around. Unfortunately, I can't see that leadership in Mahama or Bawumia.
