That is the most outrageous utterance to come from someone as high in power as a Majority Whip. I don't know who the heck that person is, but he is indeed a twerp. His head is probably filled with air. Such a moron!

Aban is an individual. But the larger population can resist this business. These professor just make noise to get thier promotion. I was expecting the TEWU or SRC or CVCP, of Department of Sociology or Psychology,or Geology to come out with bankable ideas to address this problem.
Until communities decides to fight this, no government can. Unless we start shooting at offenders on sites.
The lecturers are not providing good solutions. The just talk. They should submit papers to The President, etc. All tole politicians as well as private sectorsvare involved
I still suggest, miners should be registered and taxed heavily to establish a fund to be used to crecaim the lands consistently, and the water courses are dredged as we improve the turbidity levels. We are not dredging and distilling the rivers and streams.

So we don't cause that irreparable damage before we try to fix it - that would be like chasing our tails. Dredging and desilting will not improve turbidity. And just so you know, rivers are not artificially constructed drains where these methods may have a chance. Rivers and streams are ecosystems that happens to be very fragile. The flora and fauna would be irreparably damaged. We are losing biodiversity.
Apart from being source for drinking water, the crabs, the lobsters, the catfishes and other freshwater resources have been part of our livelihood and economy for years. They form part of our food chain. These poisonous heavy metals would find their way into humans directly or indirectly and may show their effects 20, 30, or 50 years from now when we start having babies with missing limbs and vital body parts. The Chinese would have been long gone.
Finally, just know that while every Ghanaian citizen is responsible for preventing rogues from doing bad things, the responsibility ultimately lies with leadership, the government. Imagine the chaos when every citizen tries to make themselves law enforcement officers - think deep
WE NEED TO HAVE SENSE!

when fools like Annoh Dompreh speaks, you know he is a disgrace to his family. Galamsay effect will be with the nation long after he is gone. if the fools defending this nonsense know the damage mercury does to the human body, they wouldn't defend this nonsense because of stupid partisan politics. soon we wouldn't have drinkable water in Ghana because it will sip into the ground and destroy even the ground water making boreholes useless so those who think they can escape should close their minds, there is no way out. the earlier people like Annoh Dompreh is kicked out of leadership the better for this country. God go punish all those involve in galamsay.

Annoh Dompreh is a well known financier of galamsey that's the reason why he spoke the way he spoke because he and his NPP government are given license/, permit to Chinese miners to destroyed ghanaian farm lands and water bodies in exchange of cash.
Because of polities Annoh Dompreh and co see themselves us tin gods, they show no respect to elders so if someone's regime galamsey activities were going on must you and your NPP party used it as yardstick to to give licenses to Chinese miners to destroy our water bodies? Annoh Dompreh and his political party NPP are wicked to ghanaians.

These NPP people are not ready to solve any problem. They always say that the problem is caused by the NDC. They have forgotten that they are in power and it is their responsibility to solve the problems before the country.

Is this a comedy of errors or what? So the direct agents of destruction have succeeded in getting two political parties/governments to accuse the other as the worse polluter of our water bodies, while smiling to the bank? Return the lands back to the owners and galamsay will stop! Trust me on this. Repeal all the socialist oriented laws on land ownership, control, and management and traditional might will immediately kick in to bring order into respective domains. Let's try this simple, logical and rightful approach.

The sad thing about this so called Annor Dompreh is that he has Masters degrees on Environmental Sciences and a bachelor's in Agricultural Science. Isn't this shameful? When FOOLS RULE, THE PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS SUFFER AND EVENTUALLY PERISH. GALAMSEY will gradually lead to an international ban of our cocoa, a ban on our Agricultural exports, deprivation of our sources of drinking water and escalation of major health issues. We have useless and clueless leaders. Imbeciles.
