The fact is the 24 hour economy policy can start from somewhere. For example pharmaceutical industries, construction sector etc. Definitely not all sectors may be feasible to implement it. I believe even if one job is created it is worth the try.

The NDC 24 hr Economy can be achieved: However, only by doing the following: Setting up a number of Commercial Hubs in strategic locations across the country. Such as Trading hubs (for general products and cosmetics) petroleum hubs, MRO hubs/village( for oil and gas, mining, aviation, civil, automotive etc)

Hubs/villages setup: Through Private- Public partnership.

Customers:
1. the Ghanaian general public
2. Industries within Ghana who wants to buy MRO products: e.g for the oil and gas, mining, aviation space, civil etc
3. Neighbouring African countries to come to the hubs and buy and also take shops within the hubs and sell.
4. Other African countries can do the same
5. Other foreign countries can do the same

The management, Shops, services, stores, exhibitions centres within the centres are rented by:
1. Ghanaians
2. African countries
3. Foreign countries (they mostly have the technical products to service the oil and gas, mining sector etc

The beauty of this is these massive trading centres is open 24/7. For example, companies in neighbouring countries coming to Ghana at all odd hours to these trading centres, to buy MRO products for their respective mining, oil and gas companies..etc.

With busy centres and the odd times of these human inflows… a lot of hotels, eateries, essential shops etc will be required 24/7 and will start springing up.

Lastly, the establishment of these initial hubs will lead to other satellite hubs springing up across the country.

Therefore we say “ YES” the 24hr economy is possible. However, a lot of work and effort has to be done upfront before it can succeed.

Knowing what to do, is not the same as doing what you know. I learnt that years ago when I thought I could drive a car because I had observed drivers at it for a long time. But the day I got a vehicle in from of the trade fair and couldn't drive it as I expected is when I learnt my lesson.

Second thing is, someone may know a lot about your problem but has no idea how to help you. I learnt that when a relative was diagnosed of cancer and was dying. From Korle Bu to Sweden Ghana Medical Centre, all the doctors knew what was wrong with him but couldn't help.

Third thing is, I'm always wary of anyone who makes nonsense of other people's ideas or experience. If you have ever seen people trying to get a vehicle out a ditch or mud, you would understand. There's always someone who's quick to oppose another's idea, especially if that idea is a strategy that requires patience and coordinated effort.

Get people to invest in the 24 hours economy and there will be a boom in the Ghanaian economy.
In some of the manufacturing sectors machinery works nonstop for 24 hours a day and four months in a year.
Workers there run two shift, day and night.
Work starts at 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., that is twelve hours, eight hours normal time and 3 hours overtime.
The next shift starts at 6:00 p.m. with overtime which is double starting from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for men and 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. for women.
So in this instance a worker who performs night work earns double wage from 9:00 p.m. 7:00 a.m. for women and 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. for men.
The majority of workers in Ghana are ready to perform overtime work.
Essential services, security services, hospitals and those in the hospitality service are already performing 24 hours work.
24 hours work applies to those in the agriculture sector, fishing, farming, fish farming, animal husbandry, harvesting and planting.
Women selling fresh fish from the Volta Lake and fish ponds start trading at 2p.m. and close at 10 p.m.
Instead of frozen fish, live fish is needed for a 24 hours trading. Fish in water tanks that will to sold to the customer.
Students in the electrical and electronic sector have most of their practicals in the night, thus 24 hours business is most preferable for those in the electrical and electronic sector.
