Personally, I have a lot of admiration for Tetteh Quarshie, but he was not the first person to bring cocoa seed or plant to Gold Ciast/ Ghana. He was the most successful out of the lot. The Portuguese brought us a lot of crops : Plantain, Cassava, Tomato, Chilli Peppers, Pineapple, Guava, Cocoyam, Pawpaw, Avocado etc. Just like Mr Quarshie, they initially planted the cocoa along the coast which was a recipe for disaster. Black Missionaries that came from Jamaica such as Alexander Worthy Clerk, also brought cocoa to the Gold Coast in the early 1840s, again, they failed because they planted their seeds along the Accra plains. In a nutshell, Mr Quarshie succeeded while others failed but he was definitely not the first person to bring cocoa to the Gold Coast /Ghana as we are made to believe..

Red soil is not good for farming and farmers. Use black soil only and enjoy what you harvest. Which humans eat Shitt over a period of six weeks.? This explanation makes sense. However there is no public holiday for Tetteh Quarshie up to now. He wasn't from Kyebi. What Atta 's do with Pension Funds and Databank is more than COCOBOD is doing today. History must be told correctly. Why has the water changed its color? 1 village 1 dam? E levy still paying, and nobody asked where all the EBOLA money went to.

Its all lies, coacoa is in ghana for centuriers but it wasn,t used as it is now . Our ancestors were using coacoa as okra is being used in soupes and sourses for fufu and ampesie and it,s even right now in some part of the country this delicious and healthy fruit is still used like okro but it was stopped due to commercial bases . so our ancestors stopped eating coacoa after they learnt from brazil merchants in some part of the continent that our brand of coacoa is even the best than the Amazonia coacoa in brazil.

Why do you say Ghana when in 1879 Ghana did NOT exist.?!
Why do you say Ghana when in 1879 the Colony called Gold was where he came ( where his tribes men) from and where he brought the seed to?.
Can you not tell when Asanti region and the entire Northern territory were administratively added to the Gold Coast? Foolish people just write and say nonsense. Learn to date history well and stop the rubbish.
