Unbelievable observation coming from a so-called legal luminary. For a self-acclaimed socialist who has been actively involved in the workings of the national economy for over 30 years to make such a statement, tells us how low we have sunk to as a nation. Even though he serms to be content with the crumbs that fall off the table of those who turn their backs on their native country to seek greener pastures abroad, I would like to remind him that, whichever way one looks at it, the concept of a brain-drain is so destructive that, even the most powerful nations of the world actively discourage and work against any loss of their human resource material. Wonders shall never end.

There are no jobs for the youth, and you think jobless youth are a benefit to the country? You may be young but your understanding of brain drain is so 1980s, a common problem with many Ghanaians. Please, do a little more reading and you will realise that the issue is not as black and white as you think. I wish fellow Ghanaians will continue to update their knowledge instead of trotting out statements based on a shallow understanding of the issues.

Tsatsu, please open your eyes wide! Yours is a very parochial view, talking about remittances from the diaspora. Brain drain is bad. Ghana could have applied the same resources to officially do a sort of labour exchange with other countries. That way, the people who travel abroad would have more meaningful reward for their services abroad than the current state where graduates are forced to work as porters and cleaners to earn the little wages they share with their family at home!
Tsatsu, you failed to take cognizance of the damage brain drain does to the nation. Ghana spends huge huge resources in educating the youth from primary school through university. The opposition is currently crying foul about the waste of the implementation of the free SHS, and if graduates are encouraged to abandon the country and flee to other places for better life, then where are we as a country?
Let us not concentrate on the benefits of the meagre transfers from abroad, but let us encourage the youth to apply the knowledge they acquire from the 15 to 20 years of schooling to help build Ghana. All the advanced countries were once just like where Ghana presently is in terms of development and affluence. But their youth, in those ancient times, applied the knowledge they had acquired through education to raise the country to its present stage. We can also do likewise, but it requires commitment and sacrifice from each generation to achieve the prosperous future we dream of. Please do not take Senior Tsatsu too seriously this time round. We can do it, if we want!

All those citizens sponsored to study outside pile up diplomas, come back to stay in offices and stretch their legs on the table, take fat salaries and drive big cars but really don't contribute anything tangible to the economy, so we run around in cycles. How's this sustainable when the youth pay the heavy price for it? They shouldn't travel when they have the opportunity? Are you serious.
Create the jobs for them to stay.

The issue of brain drain exists only when there are jobs for the brains but people are leaving, but where there are no jobs for the brains, there is no brain drain.
