Those who plan to vote for the NPP, think again, because if this continues for another year, Ghana will be poorer and there will be violence because people simply can’t cope with the hardships. The contract at the root of this whole saga was signed in June 2015, and ratified by Parliament on 23rd July 2015, at the height of the power cuts problems in Ghana. And the sad thing is we don’t need any of these redundant power supplies, because Mahama signed so many of them when he knew we didn’t need them. But because of his penchant to pocket kickbacks he signed them anyway!

There have never been a fair deal in any of the contracts that the politicians and their associates sign on behalf of the country. The deals are made to last for generations, so that they and their descendants will continue to enjoy state largesse and rule on the back of the people. Recently, we saw the children of the Rawlings, Atta Mills and John Mahama being propped up into the game to replace their parents and to continue with the hegemony. To secure such plans, war chests are built with state resources by the insertion of obnoxious clauses into government contracts against what they call, arbitrary cancellations of those dubious contracts. They plan, but God decides what happens.

Due to his incompetence, John Cribo Mahama defaulted on the payment of the Nigerian government crude supply to Ghana to run the thermal plants at Atuabo and others. That explains why we went into the dumsor menace. The sad thing is that: instead of the goon sorting out the debt issue with the Nigerians, he chose to sign the Amerideal with the Karpower barge.

So after Akuffo- Addo came and settled the debt issues with the Nigerians, and the supplies were restored, we started producing about 40% surplus energy ( electricity), than we needed.

That means we didn’t need the Karpower barge and the Amerdeal at all. The surplus energy alone is costing Ghana $ 5 billion ( GHC 20 Billion) or more in the next 5-10 years. So referring to the terms and conditions in Trifigura deal as more fiscally convenient underscores your lack of clarity and understanding. Did we need that excess power grid in the first place? I’m also asking your daft head to embark on a fact finding mission, and ascertain if there was any need for all these wasted power sources.
