  Do we have police in Ghana? Every vehicle needs to have their brakes checked. What the IGP doing? This has happened too many times. We don’t value our citizens.

  It is only in Ghana any accident is attributed to a brake failure. Before any sensibel driver sit before his steeriing wheel, he knows if his brakes are functioning or not.

  Trucks like this one have air brakes. They don't work if the air compressor generating air pressure fails, or the air hoses leak from a split somewhere between the air tanks and the brakes.
  You can have new brake pads and if the air system is not working, you will fail to stop.
  In this case, I think the weight of the fuel load was too much for the engine capacity, and the road was probably unpaved and the tires were worn.Nothing will stop the roll back unless the transmission is automatic and engages forward gears so the driver can maintain a position on the hill. With worn tires and failed brakes, if the hill is steep you are in trouble
