The answer is a simple one; her majesty the Queen of Britain refused to allow the govt of Ghana to send students to Britain to study. This is something no Ghanaian must forget. In those days a black person was not allowed to study in almost every state in the United States. Moreover, the Eastern Bloc countries allowed Ghanaians to study free of charge. The only problem was the language.

Elizabeth II was only 13 in 1939, she was evacuated to Windsor Castle at the outskirts of London. She first visited Ghana in her haydays in 1961 and later in 1999 as an old woman.

We have many historic sites around Ghana but we are failing to properly develop tourism with quacks confidently parading as tour guides.

The Queen, during her War retreat in Ghana was secretly housed at various places including Labadi and particularilly Chorkor, which was at the time a British military barracks.

All other serious govts and heads of state have similar Top Secret stand-by arrangements - for both local and international retreat of their leaders during times of overwhelming threat against their countries.

A recent reminder of such arrangements is when President Bush of the US was made to disappear for a day or two when the nerve-center of the US was badly mauld during the 9/11 episode.

Within our own current day Ghana, Fort Usher and Patience at Accra and Apam respectively, were all built by the Dutch towards the end of the late 1600s to the early 1700's.
Did your research contemplate former Dutch settlements/colonies in Southern Africa (South Africa, Namibia),Asia, the Caribbean and South America?
