Stick to facts, not emotional. There is no impasse, just as there was none when they worked with him to tighten standards and halt applications for new manufacturing licences for interested investors, in effect blocking new competitors. There is rather betrayal of trust. Apparently KT proposed and they willingly accepted a deal (signed communique) with the Ministry to publish their ex-factory prices offered to major distributors to enable customers detect over pricing by retailers on the basis of easily available information on exfactory prices. And to discuss pricing mechanisms details in a Committee, in which they are represented. This was to be part of inputs into the development of a Uniform Pricing Mechanism that result in balancing the prices across the country, just is in the petroleum sector.
We easily forget that indirectly through public-financed projects (schools, hospitals, roads) in the construction industry, government is the largest consumer of cement. What really are the alternatives to regulation, 100% deregulation, allowing anyone who wishes to import cement for sale or use to do so, and allowing many more manufacturers into the industry in line with free market theory. The cement manufacturers can't enjoy restrictions to competition that offers the protection and still insist on charging any price they so chose, with transparency. It smacks of taking advantage of restriction and colluding to raise or even set prices. I actually prefer 100% deregulation save for standards, with zero licences. It is for them to chose.

You see my problem with the Media and our democracy. How on earth will Journalist who is suppose to be on the side of the vulnerable stand against a minister who is making sure he protects the vulnerable whiles ensuring the right thing is done by the business community. TK, which businessman sets up a business for nonprofit? Agreed for them to make returns from their investment, but they cannot create a cartel to raise prices anyhow. And this is what KT is fighting for. At hid age he might have built any mansion. But he is thinking about the poor Civil Servant who can barely afford a bag of cement to seal his cracked wall, so if you are for the manufacturers wallow in your stupidity against the masses. Infact our democracy is in a big mess if these are the people we call the fourth estate. Really sad.

I have said it before we have mentally ill people who has taken over some key positions in this country that is why logic is missing in our daily thinking and analysis .
if those group of person asked to leave the meeting has anything to say in the ongoing consultations about the tariff regime policy - why do the refused to honour the ministers invitation ?
refusing to meet the minister and his policy formulating team means you have nothing to say .
what KT did was very more than the right thing that ought to be done .
nexttime honour the invitation and contribute your opinion.
I wish NDC or Npp WHO EVER WINS the December elections should continue from where KT left the policy.
It is a policy that would help the Ghana economy as a whole instead of few greedy people
