  The church’s request is a fundamental human right of freedom, which includes the freedom of religion; freedom of opinion and expression; freedom of thought; freedom of conscience; and the freedom of association. It is also a right to fairness, that is, the right to fair trial and due process of law.
  
  The request is therefore not superfluous, that is, Not Unnecessary nor are they Asking for too much. The refusal and excuses given by the EC is rather a serious error of judgment.
  
  The president’s request to the church with a quote from the Bible (give unto Caesar, what is Caesar’s and to God, what is God’s) in a bid to persuade or coerce the members to participate in the December 7th elections, rather establishes and cements the church’s position. Between God and Caesar, whose due is pre-eminent? Of course it is that of God. Give to God what is His (due and Honour) first, before that of Caesar (man).
  
  Sabbath is from creation, it attest to God as the creator and the observants as in obedience and covenant relationship with Him. If for any reason, man decides to go by his own interpretations that does not vitiate the importance of the sabbath nor does it vitiate the pre-eminence of God above all things, and the fundamental human rights of the observants.
  
  EC must purge itself, and all other state institutions must also be seen to be doing the right things at all time. A nation in obedience brings blessings. Righteousness exalts (promotes, prospers, protects) a nation, but sin is a reproach (disgraces, degrades, brings to naught) to any people (Proverbs 14:34). It is in the nation’s own interest to accede to the church’s request, without any persuasion or coercion for them to vary their position on the sabbath. Let him who has ears listen to this admonition.
