Clearly, MPs are very important because they represent the people. MPs must therefore be given more respect wherever they go, especially in the capital. Since most MPs don't live in Accra, there ought to be a special hotel for newly elected MPs, so that they would be able to find a good accommodation in Accra before they are sworn in. If a teacher living in Nyamebekyere who has never been to Accra wins the elections in his constituency on Dec 7, with his little money how would he be able to find a good accommodation in Accra before January 7?

A bag of cement sold for GHC 8.00 in 2009, GHC 16.00 in 2016 but started shooting up like a space rocket from 2017. By the way, when will the jokers make a law to control the prices of tomatoes and maize, etc which have also gone up through the roof?

In principle, KT has the right to return the favour after the cement folks refused to honour his invitation. However there's such a thing as human relations and diplomacy which is a crucial ingredient in potent leadership. KT is Minister only to the extent that he SERVES the nation. KT should have taken the high ground. That he did not is an obvious failure in leadership. KT could have turned this particular meeting into a moral and PR victory by accommodating the Cement people and perhaps even wrung a crucial commitment to review cement prices. He missed a glorious opportunity. Now beyond the faux pas is the humongous elephant in the room; the exchange rate has exposed his government to the point where even if the cement people were conspiring to use prevailing economic indicators as an excuse to fix prices he would have very little wiggle room to spare. Further, if we would go by the honourable Minister's Logic, then perhaps the net would have to naturally be cast wider than just Cement. In essence, KT has no business trying to regulate or place a ceiling on the ebbs and flows of a free market. What he can do as Minister is to impress it upon his boss to craft and implement pragmatic, market-friendly policies that protect both consumers and manufacturers/producers. Clearly there is no deliberate attempt to protect either so the market will do what it does; expose incompetence, deliberate or otherwise. So KT, however you look at it, you're wrong twice over and the matter of principle is moot. Do your duty and the market will respond immediately, ACCORDINGLY.

Another group is meeting with the minister and those same group that boycotted him gate crushed the meeting and the minister requested and insisted they leave. Where is the arrogance, and if at all, who has been arrogant? The minister is rightfully standing for the larger Ghanaians and if it's not the case that these manufacturers (most of them, foreigners) are exploiting the citizens, why did they not want the media in the meeting? We must respect each other at the very least. You may dislike KT, but on this occasion, he has been forthright. He won't allow manufacturers to hold the larger country to ransom.

Unfortunately and sadly, the minister was right to refuse a meeting with the team. When invited into a meeting, you must be provided with an agenda and list of invitees. It's a protocol, but unfortunately our people have no respect for protocols. You can't join someone's meeting uninvited. After all, these are the people sabotaging the Ghanaian economy through excessive profiteering. The government must demand to know the total cost of production and selling price from each company. Generally, all businesses are not legally permitted to make profit in excess of 30-40%. If allowed to make any profit they desire, the economy will collapse.
