Its about time teachers in ghana are made to understand that students are not in any way enslaved to them. I have a personal experience which triggers me to commiserate with the bereaved. Elsewhere teachers are legally bonded to treat students with dignity and not with emotions and personal hatred and disdain. There should be a legislation to focus on the rights of students. Enough is enough...

Everything under this particular givt has been politicised and teachers and heads has no say. This little action you take becomes a political sabotage and harsh punishment meted out to such heads or teachers. How can they work efficiently if you look over shoulders each minute?
With all humility, the management of schools should be left for educationists to handle.

I do sympatize with the parents and the teachers also. The schools should be equipped with paid nurses whose duty is to be able to provide first aid to students and also dtermine who should be sent to the hospitals.

Ghanaians teachers are great, ut some of the students may have underlying health issue unknown to the school but known to the parents.
Let the autopsy tell us what the student was suffering from.

It is easy to blame the teachers. They are overwhelmed by a lot of stuff going on triggered by the over-population of te schools. Most schools do not have resident nurses let alone doctors. Yet we have thousands of nurses sitting at home twitching their fingers day in and day out. For all one know, this teacher may not have a car and even if he did there's no assurance there was fuel in it. The situation is complex. We need level heads to help all schools.

If the ndc is wise why not call for more staff to beefed up with the inadequate teachers and attendants to provide students needs perfectly rather than depriving some students of the free SHS in the name of review?

I just don't understand why some SHS authorities are adamant on issues on students health. Why is it occurring after many students have lost their lives due to negligence on the part of school authorities ? What will school authorities lose when they give exeat to sick students or calling parent(s) to come for their wards who have reported illness ? After what happened at knust SHS where a student collapsed and no one went to his aid and when help came, it was too little, too late and yet it keeps occurring. Some SHS authorities have not learnt any lesson from previous occurrences. Why should it be so.

the problem is that the infirmaries are not well equipped to take care of the children: inadequate medicine, lack of qualified health personnel and equipment. All they have there are beds and paracetamol.

Before the introduction of the so called Free SHS, PTAs employed nurses and bought supplies for the school infirmaries. Now government says parents should not pay for these things making basic first aid difficult in our schools. Meanwhile the schools are congested and the teachers are simply tired. The results is the frequent deaths being reported.
