I often wonder how a small Country like GHANA , can go belly up ,in just under eight years ,that is now fighting for survival .I can rember back in 2018 where the currency exchange rate for aud was 4 cedis to one aud and now its over 10.
So how can it go so wrong?.....what was the core reason ,back in those days.the National Debt was starting to elevate to alarming levels.....it's two years later before Covid came and Ghana was only locked down for three weeks,and with cap in hand the Government got a grant of one billion USD from the IMF OR WORLD BANK to soften the blow......A grant not a loan.
And let's face it the Government, had to pay off the money owed from the NDC time in Government as they had no money to work with.
I don't know the real reason ,for Akufo Addo to carve up the Country into now 16 regions from. 10.I can only assume ,it was to give the upper regions more access to Government agencies. But at what cost?......The number of Politicians, in a small Country like Ghana is an over kill .....I don't know the right number that it increased ,but it has a profound impact on the National debt.....What's more, if you were to ask the people who live in these newly created regions ,what difference having a Parlimentarian in their Constituence means to them,they would most likely say NONE......And I would believe it.
I reckon ,in the main,Politicians are lazy in Ghana......there not good value so why have them ?.....That would be one way of reducing the National Debt......WEED OUT THE DEAD WOOD.
