This problem of school drop out and some children showing dislike for education did not start because of NPP introducing free SHS. It has been with our educational system for long time. There were sometimes some children have to be carried to school by forced. However some teachers made some of these guys love education. Some of these children are professors.

Therefore poor performance is not new in Ghanaian universities. Therefore if some people don’t do well, it is normal for some people to fail. What these people failed to do is proper analysis of performance before and after free SHS. After all Dr. Nkrumah introduced free education for some parts of the country. If you do proper analysis, you will find out that majority of the beneficiaries did not do well. They therefore did courses like history (John Mahama, archeology (Apaak) and other useless courses. Do a proper research and stop this nonsense

John Dramani Mahama introduced free SHS in 2013 by the state paying the tuition fees of students in all Senior High School.
Later he launched an appeal to citizens and organizations to cover the boarding and feeding of students in boarding schools.
Through that he was able to get 75% of students in SHS covered by that scheme, leaving 25% to be covered.
I have a child in SHS currently and I spent GHC1,000.00 on her feeding every fortnight.
That is because NPP government is unable to feed students in SHSs.

When, where and how did John Mahama appeal to citizens and organisations to support the boarding and lodging of SHS students? Is that what he was elected to do? What was the impact of the so-called tuition-free SHS that you claim John Mahama introduced on SHS enrolment?

John Mahama enjoyed completely free northern education (including: tuition, boarding, lodging, uniforms, sandals and other academic user facilities fees) in the 1970s, was he the one who introduce that?

If your claim of spending GHC1,000 every fortnight on your child’s feeding is true, then that is you and your child’s choice and it is no news, you could have rather taken your child to a private SHS. This your extra spending on feeding is no news, because some SHS students never ate from the dining halls even under the fee-paying system. However, majority of the current free SHS students feed from the schools dining halls, while others supplement that with whatever they have in their “Chop boxes”. We all did that even under the fee-paying system.

Free SHS has come to eliminate some corrupt practices in almost all SHS and therefore sabotage has set in. From class one to university, masters, PhD etc one will find poor students. Review could be done but if teachers sit on the fence and don't change they way they do things, it will be the same even after review.

Ask all your family members who are enjoying the Free SHS to stay or withdraw from their respective schools and teach them in your home. Why are some of always against the Free SHS policy. Were you not in Ghana when one student from Adeiso given a scholarship to study abroad and he is performing wonders? He is among the top three in that school. Change your style of teaching and stop those unnecessary criticism. Join the bus or drop from it. God have mercy on you.

The main problem is the mass promotion from the basics. Most of the kids are aware of the mass promotion hence they don't study anymore, only few does.

That is why it is important to bring the JHS on board. They should be allowed to take all the subjects in the JHS to FSHS 2. At FSHS 2, the teachers could help them choose their subjects for the FSHS 3 final exams. They shou ...

That is why it is important to bring the JHS on board. They should be allowed to take all the subjects in the JHS to FSHS 2. At FSHS 2, the teachers could help them choose their subjects for the FSHS 3 final exams. They should branch after the FSHS to various institutions based on their subjects. The Universaties, TVET, Nursing Training Colleges, Teacher Training Colleges, etc. At this point they can all access the Students Loans and the burden on the government on Training Allowances, could stop and all monies diverted to the Students Loans Trust. That is the review I'm expecting the to make after 8 years of FSHS.
