We mourn the loss of any grannie who is even over a 100 years of age. We mourn when a woman has a miscarriage of an advanced pregnancy. I personally remember weeping when listening to the GBC commentary of the burial service of Justice Nii Armah Ollenu. I equally shed tears during the solemn ceremonies during the burial of John Archie Casely Hayford (?) and tears freely flow down my cheeks when Maj-Gen Mensah Wood was being buried. Just on TV or on Radio. I do not know, personally, any of the above dignitaries.

So we do not love death. I take no pleasure in the death or killing of people. But for some deaths during June 4 and early PNDC rule, no force on earth could have stopped them. It was a volcanic action.
Fellow Ghanaians, there are some people who, when they hate you, that’s that. No reverse of mind. Events of June 4 and 31 December were better reconciled and not PROBED. This probing will be RE-PROBED and RE-REPROBED by generations unborn.

I do not have a vote, nor do I seek to win any politician for or against JJR with this piece. Who on earth says JJR has not apologized to Ghanaians over the wrongs of these dates? Please ask GBC to replay their recording of events which took place when the State organized a National Program honouring EPHRAIM AMU (live) at the NATIONAL THEATRE. I cannot remember the exact date, except I come back to Ghana to check my books. But it was between 1992 and 1994. Amanfour, JJR apologized to Ghana! JJR appeared very sober and was shown barely sobbing.

Murder of Judges: My sympathies to the families. But where does JJR get involved in these at all? Only because it occurred under his PNDC Government.
I was working at GIHOC Steelworks under Dr William Sam (General Manager); Dr de-heer Johnson (Admin Manager); Capt de-Graft Yeboah (Head of Personnel) and Addison (Divisional Accountant). Tema Steel was under Ghana Industrial Holding Corp (GIHOC) located at Labone, Accra. GIHOC Managing Director was Dugan; Board Chairman was Brig Nunno Mensah; and Director of Personnel was Major Acquah. Major Acquah was the in-law of Brig. Nunno-Mensah. Nunno-Mensah’s little brother was believed to be Annan Mensah who was at Electrical Shop and lived at Tema Newtown.

Major Acquah: GIHOC Director of Personnel (Under Dugan). GIHOC Workers Branch of ICU of TUC organized a demonstration during PNP rule. National Chairman of the Union was Joachim Amartey Kwei. Our leaders were arrested over alleged excesses during the demonstration at Parliament. They were sent to court. They were tried by the late 3 MURDERED Justices of the Bench. (Judicial Secretary, please prove me wrong). They were sanctioned by our Personnel Director Major Acquah. Verify these records and prove me wrong!!

When December 31 struck, the PNDC was formed consisting of a Former Justice of the High Court, a Student Leader, a Reverend Father, Ordinary Soldiers, and a Trade Unionist. Joachim Amartey Kwei was the Trade Unionist. To all those ex-GIHOC Workers who will like to bother to comment, please tell all the world to hear that many of us wanted " JUSTICE" for Major Acquah, the Judges who tried our Union Leaders and even Brig Nunno-Mensah our GIHOC Board Chairman. JJR and Kojo Gbagbladza were not in our Union. If, as members of Government, they provided logistics to our Amartey Kwei for him to do "JUSTICE" to those we found enemies during our demonstration, I cannot say. But all said and done, some of us GIHOC Workers who were peeved by the arrest of our Leaders, felt we should also use Amartey and should eliminate them.

To the bereaved families, including the family of Amartey Kwei, May God comfort you all. The MURDER OF THE 3 JUDGES & THE RTD ARMY MAJOR was the wish of GIHOC Workers like myself. Killing is no good. But please, this has happened. Fellow Ghanaians, let it be. Honourable Ghanaians, and to one DANIEL AMPOMAH who operates the Website "prosecute-rawlings.com", all those who are peeved by other atrocities of the two regimes, all those who would not like ever to forgive JJR for having ruled Ghana as a half-caste, please let us move Ghana ahead. I have my own sufferings under June 4 and Dec 31 but do not see any need to publicise these.

Bygones are bygones.

Free JJR and Kojo Gbagbladza from these accusations and hold we GIHOC Workers responsible. May Father God touch your hearts.

The justice system in Ghana never did justice because of corruption so something was definitely going to happen as things were very bad. Also, had the govt of the day stopped the Military Intelligence from constantly harassing Rawlings with their assassination attempts, JJ might have left them alone and probably opted for a dialogue.
JJ HAD the right to live in peace in Ghana and still HAS the right to live in peace wherever in the world. Certain persons in the Liman govt wanted him dead but Liman did not want that. Liman told them to stop but they wouldn't listen. In the end JJ chose to confront them and indeed they were no match for him. He taught them a very good lesson and that is "Let A Sleeping Dog Lie".
People have the right to celebrate the coup as a reminder of what could happen if a constitutionally elected govt decides to ignore the plight of the masses and meanwhile poor people turn to the courts for justice and fairness only to be told they are losers through corruption.
Judges take bribes and come out with all sorts of senseless verdicts in favour of the rich and previleged. Even look at Amartey Kwei's case when he was dismissed for demanding an increase in wages for him and his fellow workers in line with inflation. Was it not the court system that made sure he lost his case three times when common sense would have told them that as a shop steward he had the right to negotiate with the management of GIHOC on behalf of the workers?
The management gave him and some of his colleagues the sack. The justice system had THREE OPPORTUNITIES to right the wrong but they did not because parliament and govt plus management had teamed up through bribery to make him jobless and let him suffer. Major Acquah was in charge of GIHOC.
If you were one of those dismissed and lost the court cases will you support the coup or not? If you were a child of the sacked workers and couldn't get your school fees and daily bread through no fault of your parents, will you be happy with the govt and justice system? Treat thy neighbour as thysel

Just 9 months into the Limann Government, inflation generally already peaked 100%. For instance, Sardine which was suppose to be selling at 1.6 Cedis sold at 8 Cedis! Companies embarked on strike demanding pay rise. Gihoc featured prominently among the companies demanding 15% salary increase and had 8000 of workers dismissed and asked to apply back. Their consternation was that, only managers were given cost of living allowance so they continued their demand.

One of the desperate straws that the haters of the PNDC have constantly flagged as a pointer that the Rawlingses had something to do with the killing of the judges and the retired military officer is the famous bunch of keys of the vehicle that was used to abduct the four victims on that fateful night of June 30, 1982.

The impression has always been created that the fact that the keys of the vehicle were said to have been picked up on a table in the apartment of Mrs Konadu Rawlings was a solid indication of that President Rawlings and his wife were somehow involved in the murders.

What is all this talk about keys being picked from the table of Mrs Rawlings and the vehicle having been taken from the compound overlooking the flat where the former first lady used to live? This was the question your factually reliable Lens put to Mrs Rawlings and the following was the response we obtained.
“I never knew about the fact that the vehicle in question used to be parked in the yard nor that the keys of the vehicle were among some dozens or more keys that were regularly left on my table every evening and picked up every morning. The first time it came to my notice was when the issue was mentioned during the SIB investigation.”
“The truth of the matter is that lots of vehicles were regularly parked in the compound which housed not just my flat but a number of other flats at the time. In those days, my house was not locked at all and used to be regularly frequented by a good number of people who frequently came in and out even in my absence. Many of these people were in the habit of parking their vehicles in the yard which was considered safe during those days of nightly curfews. Since my doors were never locked, the practice was to drop the keys of the vehicles on the table in my sitting room in the evening and pick them up in the mornings. Keys of approximately 10 to 15 vehicles used to be put on the table every evening.”
“We had nothing to do with the vehicle in question and as a matter of fact I did not even know that one of the vehicles that used to be parked in my yard was used for the crime until the matter came up during the investigations, as I said earlier.”
“My husband did not even know about the story of the vehicle and the keys until somewhere in 1998 when he got to hear about it and asked me what the story of the vehicle and the key on my table was all about.”
“To me, attempts being made to link us to the 1982 murders by using the issue of the keys are simply acts of political desperation which would not yield anything. A lot of dust has been thrown into the eyes of many people by these desperate elements and I think it is high time we put this issue of keys, which has always been a non-issue anyway, to the thrash can where it rightfully should be.”

Didn't we find the perpetrators of the hienous crime in 1982? Yes we did. True to the word of the then head of state, JJ Rawlings a proper probe called the SIB was setup to look into the crime. Culprits were found and sentenced to death. Chief among them is Joachim Amartey Kwei, a good friend of JJ. Did Rawlings protect him? No, because a crime is a crime and MUST be punished. JJ signed the death warrant of his colleague and friend, Captain Lee when he shot and killed another person. He again signed the death warrant of his own nephew, when he also killed someone(most painful). He could hv swept some of these issues under the carpet as we see today. That's the hallmark of an extremely honest person, which most of us are not. We sat here and Yaa Naa and forty of his elders were slaughtered. We said nothing. Did we get even a single perpetrator? NO! Or those people were less humans, abi? This happened under Prez Kufour. Even though some of his appointees were implicated, what came out of that issue? Did we hear anybody putting that crime on Kufour? Why then would we continue to put the crime of the killing of the judges on JJ, even though he got the criminals and punished them and brought closure to that issue? What a hypocritical society is Ghana? Any doubt we are sinking fast? NO, because we are not learning anything from our history. Adabuga and your lot, Shut the hell up!

The point is, if Ghanaians hate you, you can be as good as an angel, it would mean nothing to them. On the contrary they'd lie on top of everything else. That's why we'd continue to have a country like the one we have with crooks at the helm of affairs.

Gone are the days when people were innocent and therefore swallowed everything thrown out there by NPP communicators and surrogates. You can publish and republish all the news about Rawlings all over again it won't change a thing. Ghanaians living today are wiser than you NPP would accept. You can lie to your supporters and followers but not the undiluted Ghanaian. We have seen the treachery with which NPP rules Ghana and have seen the sincerity of the NDC and so we know what we're doing. No amount of misinformation will sway our votes in December. Any sane Ghanaian will vote against NPP and Bawumia the liar and Napo the arrogant. Ghanaweb can write and rewrite all the crimes of Rawlings he's still better a Ghanaian than Akuffo Addo. Rawlings 19yrs in office did more Good than harm to Ghana so you guys should shut up. We know our history.
